TREE CARE TIPS
Fresh Cut
Cut a minimum of ½” off the bottom of the trunk of the tree then put it in water as soon as possible.
Tree Stand
Displaying trees in a water stand is essential for maintaining freshness.
Water Your Tree
Check your stand reservoir regularly and make sure the water level is above the bottom of the tree base. Bevigilant, waterdaily.
De-bunking Urban Myths
Drilling holes in the bottom of the tree will not improve water uptake. Drilling holes in the side of the trunk will not improvewater uptake, it will impede water flow. The temperature of the water used to fill the stand is not important. The addition of sugar, molasses, honey, aspirin, bleach, Coca-Cola, or other home remedies to the water willnot increase longevity of your tree’s life.
Less Heat
Keep your tree displayed away from any source of heat such as heat supply registers, heat cold air return registers, radiators, fireplaces, or direct sun light. Use lights that produce low heat such as LED or miniature lights.
Safety
Inspect light sets prior to placement. Do not overload electrical circuits. Turn off the lights when you leave the house or go to bed. Monitor the tree for freshness. If the tree is dry remove it from the house. Never burn any part of a Christmas tree in a fireplace or wood stove.
Recycle
Denver and most of the suburbs will pick up trees to be recycled into mulch. We will have specific Denver recycling information handouts on the lot.
